2019 July Chair Message
Summer has made its way into WNY and with that, the passing of the Chairman’s torch from Peter Cimino to me.
First, I want to acknowledge the tremendous leadership Peter Cimino showed to our organization. We are all thankful for his guidance to ensure we continue to be a leading force in WNY. Peter, I can’t thank you enough for making this transition effortless. “Dr. Drone”, we salute you!
During my term we will continue our focus on the community and our support of organizations that align with our mission. One of my targeted initiatives for this year will be to bring more programing as well as continued tech education and outreach to WNY school districts. In addition to these initiatives, we are looking forward to partnerships with amazing groups such as Inclusive Tech, GIS Buffalo, PMI Buffalo, and Full Stack Buffalo.
More good news is that we have just welcomed the HIMMS WNY organization to our Board via our newest member, Armand Morrison. As always, we are continuously working to expand our membership with some of the leading organizations in our area to increase our brand awareness and broader community involvement.
Looking ahead we have a very exciting year planned already, including SAP User Day, our first Capture the Flag Challenge, and much more to come! I want to thank our education committee who helped coordinate the logistics of over 85 people in Larkinville during our AWS Builder’s Day and our networking committee for a successful summer social at 500 Pearl Street. For both events, the overall feedback was very positive. We are proud to say that thanks to our members’ generous donations, we were able to give a check for $300 to our selected charity, The Teacher’s Desk, for much needed school supplies for the upcoming year. If you attended Builder's Day, we have posted some pictures on our LinkedIn and Facebook pages so check them out!
Be sure to follow our social media and website’s events page, https://www.infotechwny.com/events so you don’t miss any of our upcoming news and events.
In closing, I want to thank Infotech and the Board for entrusting me with this honor. I have big shoes to fill and with everyone’s help I will lead this amazing organization through another successful year.
